Tables, venue, photography… how much does a wedding actually cost? And how much will gift money cover?
| Category | Estimated Cost |
|---|
Based on 2024-2025 Taiwan market rates. Actual costs vary by vendor and choices.
The biggest expense is the banquet venue and food, typically 40-50% of the total budget. Hotel banquets run NT$12,000-25,000 per table. A 20-table standard hotel wedding — including photography, makeup, decorations — usually costs NT$500,000-800,000 total.
In Taiwan, wedding guests give cash gifts (紅包). Typical amounts: coworkers/friends NT$1,600-2,200, relatives NT$2,600-3,600, close family NT$6,000-10,000+. Averaging about NT$2,000 per person, a 20-table (200 guest) wedding collects roughly NT$400,000 in gifts — enough to cover most of the banquet cost.
Cake cutting fees, venue A/V surcharges, invitation design and printing, wedding favors, bridesmaid/groomsmen outfits, day-of transportation, engagement gifts — these small items add up fast. Budget an extra 10-15% contingency on top of your total estimate.
