This tool uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API — voice quality depends on your OS and browser. macOS voices sound quite natural, and Windows has improved a lot too. If you need studio-quality voices for YouTube narration or podcasts, you'd want a paid cloud service like Google Cloud TTS or Amazon Polly. But for everyday proofreading, language practice, and timing scripts, the built-in engine is more than enough — and it's free with unlimited uses.
Since this uses the browser's native speech engine, everything you type is processed locally on your device. Nothing gets sent to any server. So whether it's an internal company memo, unreleased marketing copy, or your personal journal, you can use it without worrying about data privacy. Close the tab and it's gone.
